Jacques and Sonja Hartzenberg invite you to Clifton Country House, their 200 – year old farm nestling in the foothills of the Sneeuberg. The house, dated 1774, is older than Graaff-Reinet. But their hospitality is vintage 21st century. Originally Klipfontein, primarily used for stock farming for 3 generations by the De Klerk family. The recent sale to Jacques and Sonja will see the property developed into a world-class private game reserve and 2 adjacent properties have already been added. Owners Jacques and Sonja has been in the tourism industry since 1996 and are busy reintroducing game and will be relocating rare species such as White- and Black Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Sable Antelope, Roan, Giraffe, Cape Mountain Zebra to mention a few from their Kalahari Reserve. Among the rich birdlife is the Black Eagle, which is preserved along with Kudu, Mountain Rhebuck, Klipspringer, Duiker, Steenbuck and many more.
Clifton offers day and night game drives, and game trails either on horseback or on foot with experienced game rangers.
The accommodation has a luxurious 4 Star grading. Each of the en-suite bedrooms is air conditioned- individually decorated with personal comfort as a priority, like log fires and under floor heating for the cold Karoo winter evenings and a sparkling pool for those hot summers.
